From a tall man comes even taller tales. The Yarn is central to the musical stretch. From city to country the stories, the poetry and the raucous music hall atmosphere will have you clicking your fingers, tapping your toes and singing out loud.
A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll and a whole lot of tongue in cheek, Stretch and the Truth is a purveyor of the Struth. Walking the fine line, between the lines.
Stretch & The Truth is a 6 piece band of crack musicians that individually have played with almost every band across all genres in the Australian music industry. Consisting of Melbourne’s Stephen (Stretch) Teakle, Philip Rex, Nara Demasson, Erki Veltheim, Gus Macmillan and John Watson, it is a vehicle for Stephen ‘Stretch’ Teakle’s songs and stories of his life’s travels, from working on Cattle stations in the Kimberley to living in Arnhemland, from Arts school in Melbourne to near misses with the Russian ganglands of St Petersburg. The band play roots based alt country that grooves tough enough for boots yet remaining intimately aware of the silk vale that hangs over the world of original music.
Stretch, the ‘teller of tall tales’ will take you on a musical journey with this band of well-seasoned gun musicians and allow yourself to enjoy the yarns as he stretch’s the truth a little that will have you wondering where the truth ends and where the lies begin.
