Belleville's annual Relay for Life has raised $52,415 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
The relay was held Saturday evening at Mary-Anne Sills Park.
Society fundraising specialist Jessica Klein said the goal had been to raise $80,000.
Though acknowledging the shortfall, she said, "We were delighted with the turnout.
"We had 29 teams registered and nearly 200 participants. We also had about 35 to 40 survivors for our victory lap."
Proceeds will fund society programs for cancer patients and their families, including the Wheels of Hope transportation service to get patients to and from appointments.
The Intelligencer will have full coverage later today.
